summary of child labour

UNICEF defines child labour as work that exceeds a minimum number of hours, depending on the age of a child and on the type of work. Such work is considered harmful to the child and should there be eliminated[1]. The major cause of child labour is poverty. Poor parents send their children to work to meet their economic expediency. Other factors are schools are often inaccessible or prohibitively expensive, with inadequate teaching and class room resources[2].The children have to get adequate education before their minimum age of employment, the government should support cash transfer program, school meals, and also elimination of poverty[3]. International labour organisation has sponsored the two key instruments of international law. Firstly, the 1973 minimum age convention 138 establishes the obligation for countries to work towards a minimum age of 15 for legal employment. Secondly the 1999 convention 182 for elimination of the worst forms of child labour suggests the governments to identify the incidence of such child labour, backed by national plans for its elimination. The Government have to ensure all children to get adequate education before their minimum age of employment, the government should support cash transfer program, school meals, and also elimination of poverty[4] is the only solution to abolish child labour. In fact, the more harmful the work and the more vulnerable the children involved. On analysing the above mentioned statistics and current situation, the key international regulations are not effectively enforced. Children are facing a lot of hardship in hazardous work. The key international regulations are only in the form of books, to obtain better result the Government have to enforce those regulations in a proper way.

FOB

The FOB clause is not taken as a term defining the means of delivery. It is considered as a base for the calculation of the products in practice. FOB contract is a flexible implement which permits parties to arrange different conditions as they are suitable. For instance, the seller may offer to arrange insurance for the buyer; or the buyer may concur to assist with the duty of transporting the products over the ship’s rail. A case of the classic FOB is here. In Wimble, Sons & Co. v Rosenberg & Sons, the buyer’s obligation is to appoint the ship, and the seller’s to load the products on board for the buyer and obtain a bill of lading in the trade. In the case, the seller is directly a party to the contract of carriage till he gets a bill of lading in the buyer’s name. There are issues across a range of FOB contracts. What parties agreed may be different from what they indeed did, for instance the fact that a FOB seller signs a carriage contract as principal does not essentially intend that he agreed to do so. Yet the flexible FOB contract is limited. If the parties have agreed FOB, the court will need strong proof which they have contracted to make an arrangement beyond the restrictions of the FOB term. If a term is stated, they would determine to which of two incoherent terms they affect. Using an FOB term makes an assumption about what the parties contracted in the lack of other proof. Thus, it should be differentiated between what is included within the FOB notion and what the FOB term implies when there is no other proof about what the parties contracted.

Recession

The entire world is under the pressure of recession, ‘Economist Roger Bootle expects GDP growth to slow to1% next year’. It is really difficult time to survive, educational institution raises their fees, the day to day expenses are going up, but still getting a job is really difficult today! Have a look a blog about recession http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/recession and give comment on it

Definition of child and child labour

UNICEF defines child labour as work that exceeds a minimum number of hours, depending on the age of a child and on the type of work. Such work is considered harmful to the child and should there be eliminated[1]. Article 1 of The United Nations Convention on the Rights of Child defines a Child as anyone below the age of eighteen years. The Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act, 1986 defines child as “a person who has not completed his fourteenth year of age”[2].

Intellectual property law and its growth

In this commercial world, Intellectual property law is developing day by day, it is a great field to practise now a days. But the small scale and medium sized industries are not aware about its importance, so WIPO and other international organisation should publish more journals in the simple language, so that even a common man can understand the importance of intellectual property law. In the present scenario underdeveloped nation is not playing a major role in intellectual property law. This situation should be changed[1].

corruption

Do you think corruption is good? Yes it is good for one person and his family, but it affects the poorest and the entire nation. No country can develop its economy without abolishing corruption. Corruption won't make you rich, it will spoil, your environment in which you live. Think about it and stop corruption. The issue of corruption is very much inter-related with other issues. At a global level, the “international” (Washington Consensus-influenced) economic system that has shaped the current form of globalization in the past decades requires further scrutiny for it has also created conditions whereby corruption can flourish and exacerbate the conditions of people around the world who already have little say about their own destiny[1].

INTERNATIONAL REGULATION AND CHILD LABOUR

International labour organisation has sponsored the two key instruments of international law. Firstly, the 1973 minimum age convention 138 establishes the obligation for countries to work towards a minimum age of 15 for legal employment. Secondly the 1999 convention 182 for elimination of the worst forms of child labour calls on governments to identify the incidence of such child labour, backed by national plans for its elimination. The international organisation aims to eliminate child labour by 2016, backed by its ten year global  action plan drawn up in 2006[1].
I think the key international regulations are not effectively enforced. We have to cross miles to save child from child labour. The key international regulations are only in the form of books, to obtain better result we have to enforce those regulations in a proper way. We have to ensure all children to get quality education before their minimum age of employment, we have to encourage cash transfer program and school meals, we have to eliminate poverty[2], unless the above mentioned steps are taken we cannot control child labour.

the state of child labour today

THE STATE OF CHILD LABOUR TODAY

Child labour continues to decline, but only modestly 3% reduction in the four year period covered by the estimates. We have seen the largest reduction among children aged 5-14 where child labour fell by 10%. There are also fewer children in hazardous work, a proxy sometimes used for the worst forms of child labour. In fact, the more harmful the work and the more vulnerable the children involved, the faster the decline, especially for girls. This is welcome news. However, the battle is far from over: 215 million children are still caught in child labour and a staggering 115 million are exposed to hazardous work. In fact, most of the global decline in child labour has been due to the reduced numbers of girls involved. Alarmingly, there has been a 20 per cent increase in child labour in the 15-17 years age group – from 52 million to 62 million. The largest sector for child labour remains agriculture, where a large majority of children work as unpaid family members[1].

Chris wittwr, a convicted football hooligan, posted the details on his website, which allows people to search for offenders by location. He said: 'i feel really proud. its quite an achivement and, if it helps people spot sex offenders living in their area who are known risk to children, i've done a good thing'.

Terrorism and child labour

nov 1, 2010, Britain must 'cut out the terrorist cancer that lurks in the arabian peninsula', David Cameron said in response to the bomb plot.
I think terrorism is the route cause for all problems such as poverty, child labour, human trafficking etc.A Country cannot develop its economy unless its free from terrorism, without economic development, we cannot have a welfare state, if a nation is not a welfare state then obviously people have to live in poverty and poverty is the main cause of  child labour!!!! so we have to stand together to abolish terrorism and kill terrorist to save this earth.

we can abolish child labour only if the laws are properly enforced. Without enforcing law we cant see smile in our child's face. http://www.ilo.org/

Summary of” is fair trade fair?”

The basic aim of fair trade is to assist the disadvantaged producers to move away from poverty through creating market access under beneficial terms. The key fair trade organisations who have stepped up campaigns to bring the disadvantaged producers are as follows, Fair Trade labelling organisation(FLO) , International Fair Trade Association (IFAT), Network of European world shops (NEWS),European fair trade association (EFTA), besides, the significant development benefits the poor producers and the developing nations are getting as a result of fair trade  initiatives, there appears to be an inherent conflict between the current manifestation of free global markets and fair trade.
The free global market tends to support the principle of comparative advantage wherein countries export what they are good at and import what thy are not good at thus creating the balance. Those who cannot will ultimately weed out, arguably, unrestrained movements of goods services of finance on the comparative advantage between nations offers the most efficient model of transactional business. We submit there fore, fair trade is fair because of the numerous benefits by way of incentives and subsidies it has provided for the poor producers for them to also feel among that they are part and parcel of the world.
